"Ravens Week" at Therapeutic Riding Program of Carroll County

Everywhere you look in Carroll County you see purple lately, and sometimes you find it in unexpected places. During the last week of the fall Therapeutic Riding Program at the Carroll County AG Center (October 25-28) purple was everywhere because it was RAVENS week at “TRP”!

The Carroll County 4H Therapeutic Riding Program is a charity chosen by RAVEN’S ROOST 115 because of its focus on community and sport. Riders, caregivers, volunteers and horses all got into football, foregoing the usual Halloween festivities, although we did see one pumpkin shirt. People wore their jerseys and horses wore purple. Our largest horse, Handsome, of course wore Michael Oher’s number!  We even had an equine cheerleader and referee. Riders crossed the goal line, threw up their arms to show a touchdown, and loved the games. Each rider was given a miniature purple football with the TRP logo.

Many thanks to the 115 Roost for visiting and sharing these moments. Many thanks also to TRP volunteers and instructors who worked to pull it together. As a community we made it happen.

And as one young man said at the end…..GO RAVENS!
