Meeting Minutes

The February meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday February 27, 2013, at Rafael’s.  The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:00pm by Treasurer Kim Harris. George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”.   A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. Present were Officers:  Recording Secretary-Judi Carter, Corresponding Secretary – Tammy Brooks, Treasurer- Kim Harris, and Sergeant at Arms- George Colburn.  Board of Directors present were Bobbi Koppenhaver, Dawn Geigan, and Steve Timchula.  Missing were: President-Scott Albright, Vice-President - Steve Rutzebeck, Lori Blake and Mike McGinnis.

President’s Report:

Notes from the January Council meeting:  Warm Drawer Project, more info to follow.  The Council Roost logo has been trademarked.  The Roosts’ raised over $110,000 for the Plunge, #115 is in the top 5 and we will get and autographed football by Torrey Smith. 

 

Treasurer’s Report:

Kim gave a Treasurer’s report.  We currently have $7130 in the bank with one outstanding bill for website hosting and domain name.

 Membership: 

Bobbi reported that we have 109 current and paid members, and we are growing.  There were 5 new members present:  Donna Mellin, John and Patty Hiltz, Patty Glauber and Kim Skipper making a total of 109 members.    

Entertainment/Events –

Council Bull Roast - #115 had 45 members attend and was one of the top 4 groups in the house.  All had a great time including the bus driver.

Board of Directors meeting was held at Rafael’s on February 21st.    Discussions included: how to choose charities to support, membership levels, event schedule, PR & advertising, and rewards to members for helping out.  Game plan for 2013 includes, golf tournament, plunge, crab feast, Council bull roast.

Roost 117 Dance April 6, 2013.  Tickets are available at $25 each.  This roost has supported our Golf and crab feast events.  Oracle is the band and the event is in Catonsville. Let’s show some support.  http://www.ravensroost115.com/events.php

Footsteps for Hope April 20.  This is a 2k walk for the PMJ Foundation and Live Laugh Hope (Lexi Ross, whose mother Caroline Ross is a new member).  We are looking for a team to walk.  http://www.ravensroost115.com/events.php

Convention is May 30 – June 3. Theme “Fly Like A Raven”.  Register for your rooms now, don’t forget to say you are with Roost 50.  Convention rooms are going quick.  Shirt order forms are available for convention shirts.  There are men’s and women’s shirts and hoodies.  The registration fee for the convention is $55 which includes food and drink at the convention for Friday and Saturday.  If you register before April 19 you will also get all the souvenirs and swag.  Business Ads are available for the convention brochure.  http://www.ravensroost115.com/convention-2013-registration-and-shirt-orders.php

Legacy Construction, who provided the truck and trailer for the winter parade, will be providing the truck and trailer for the parade in Ocean City.  Kathy offered to draw up the plans for the float, once an idea has been formed.  We will need to tear the float down after the parade before partying begins.  All #115 members who go to the convention are expected to be in the parade.  We will be designing a shirt (Heather Fields?) for us to wear down there as a group. Committee members include Terri Shull, Lori, Michele, Kurt & Mike, however if you would like to email 88sgreat@live.com .  Phillips crabs house is offering a special to Roost members for that weekend.

Golf Tournament is June 14.  We need 2-3 people to head a committee for this event, and lots of teams.  It’s not too early to start thinking about silent auction goody bag items. This is our biggest fund raiser.  We need stuff for gift bags and prizes for longest driver, closest to the pin.  Tickets this year are $100, with a rib dinner after the tournament.  We will have beer, water and Gatorade available on the course.  Darren has donated 20 cases for the course and a keg before tee-off. http://www.ravensroost115.com/events.php

Crab Feast August 10, we will need 2-3 people for a committee.  Last’s year’s was sold out.  This is also one of our big fundraisers.  We are raffling off a Super Bowl Football signed by Ray Lewis.  Tickets are $10 each or 3/$20.  They can be purchased online or in person as soon as we get the tickets.   Dennis Colson is the chair email address dictx@comcast.nethttp://www.ravensroost115.com/events.php

Special Guest:

George Politz from Larry Beck brought in various Super Bowl related items for sale.  For every $100 purchased Larry Beck’s will donate 15% back to the roost.  Items offered included:  2 sizes of the Lombardi trophy, Black Raven with a gold football $29, 9x12 plagues with list of games and the scores $29, Laminated front pages from Sunpapers for $25 and more.  These items are not available online, but you can contact George at 410-265-7200.
