Meeting Minutes

The March meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday, March 28,  2012, at Johanssons Restaurant. The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:30 by Sergeant at Arms, George Colburn. George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”.   A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. Present were Officers:  President, Scott Albright, Secretary, Lori Blake, Sergeant at Arms, George Colburn.  Board of Directors, present were Dawn Geigan and Chad Tracey.  Missing were Vice President, Chris Frantz, BOD, Raul Eusantos, Steve Rutzebeck and Tony DeLeonardo.

Treasurer’s Report:

Treasurer, position is currently open, but Kim Harris has graciously volunteered to fill the position.  Thanks Kim!  We will be recommending Kim to the Board for approval to fill the Treasurer position.  Scott reported that the balance in the account is $5,560 and with the $3,500 minimum we need to maintain in the bank, it leaves us with $2,065 for donations/expenses.

President’s Report:

Scott Albright attended the Baltimore Council meeting on March 16th.  He reported that most of the discussion was focused on June’s convention.  There is a lot of buzz and excitement about it this year.  The Ravens players and cheerleaders will be participating this year.  Rooms are booking up fast at the Days Inn so if you plan on attending, get your room booked asap.  Thanks to Deb Goff for working with Bounce with Me Inflatables to have them participate in our Roost parade.  We will surely stand out as we “bounce” down the parade route. We will be having a meeting to discuss convention details with Roost 50 on Monday, April 2nd at 7 PM at Raf’s.

The bull roast date is already set for next year for the same place and the same band.  More details to follow.

Our Roost has won one of the signed Joe Flacco picnic tables for our participation and donations in the Polar Bear Plunge.  We will be doing a raffle for one lucky person to win the table.  More details to come.

 Committee Reports:

Charity Committee:

“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” is just around the corner.  We currently have 7 men walking in the event.  Choco the Chihuahua (Roost Member, Terri McIntyre’s dog) will be making an appearance in the walk.  Bud’s of Silver Run is promoting Choco  from Terri’s Facebook page (she is under her maiden name Terri Krac on FB):  Bud's is donating a Chef's Tasting Dinner for 2 to be drawn from every one who donates to Choco's walk. Let's all help Choco become the star he deserves to be! And if Choco is the highest dollar raiser on the team Bud’s will donate a second Chef's dinner for 2.  Be sure to come out and support our Roost members and go online to donate:    https://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/ravensroost-115/4th-annual-walk-a-mile-in-her-shoes/team

Reminder that we have two Carroll County Cannons Football tickets for every game.  If you are interested in attending a game, notify Bobbi Koppenhaver at bobbikoppe@yahoo.com.  Tickets are available for use by any Roost Member.

Entertainment/Events –

The March Madness pool is winding down with just 4 lucky folks left.  Steve is doing a point spread pool in addition.  If you are interested contact Steve Rutzebeck at srutzebeck@msn.com for more information.

We will have a table at the Festival in the Park with Bounce with Me Inflatables.  We are in need of a few volunteers to man the table.  This is a great membership opportunity, plus Bounce with Me Inflatables  will be joining us at the convention.  They have a great relationship with the Ravens and the Ravens Rookies which could turn into additional growth for us.  The festival is to celebrate  the partnership they have with the Baltimore Ravens Rookie Kids Club.  The festival is going to be on  Saturday, April 21st from 12:30pm-5:30pm at the Westminster City Park.  The rain date for the event will be April 28th from 12:30pm-5:30pm.

Ravens Roost 18 Glen Burnie is sponsoring their first annual softball tournament on May 12th & 13th Saturday and Sunday. Saturday kick off at 5:00 pm and Sunday Morning at 9:00 am. $250.00 per team. Location is Brooklyn Park Fields on 10th ave. There will be a tailgate provided by RR18. Food and beverage will be available to purchase at a great cost and the food is delicious. This is a charity event. Capt Defense will be there to help kick it off and they are working on trying to get Poe.  If anyone is interested, please contact  Lisa Brandenburg (RR 18) brandenburgld0323@yahoo.com to reserve a spot.

Golf Outing

We need to get moving to fill our upcoming second annual Ravens Roost 115 Golf Outing which will take place on Friday, May 18th at the Links At Gettysburg with a 2:00 p.m. shot gun start.  Last year this was an awesome event and it’s sure to be even better this year!  Get your teams signed up.  For more information, contact Bonni at bklein@thelinksatgettysburg.com.

Crab Feast

Mark your calendar for our upcoming crab feast on Saturday, August 11th from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at the Westminster VFW. Lori passed out flyers and we will be posting and promoting this event.  We need to sell out this event as we have the possibility to raise over $4,000.  We have secured Harris Seafood to handle the steamed crabs and corn on site.  Menu includes all you can eat crabs, corn on the cob, Maryland Crab soup, fried chicken, hot dogs, beef barbeque, macaroni salad, potato salad, baked beans, vegetable tray, cheese tray, draft beer, soda ice tea and lemonade.  We will also have raffles and a big 6 wheels along with other fun things.  Mark your calendars now and spread the word. We are asking that all Roost members either buy two tickets or help us to sell two.  This would get us to the sold out mark.  Of course if you can sell more, great!   Each table seats 10.  Information is posted on the website and tickets are available now.  Contact Lori Blake at lblake6675@yahoo.com or 410-259-2222 for tickets and information.
