Ravens Roost #115 – Meeting Minutes – May 25, 2011
Our first annual Golf Outing was held on Friday, May 20th at the Links at Gettysburg.  It was very successful raising over $4500.  We are still waiting for an exact total after we receive a few more outstanding invoices on some expenses incurred.  The golf committee met afterwards to do a review of the event to create a list of things to improve for next year’s outing.  We would like to present a donation to both of our charities at our June 22nd meeting.  We would like to present the charities with a “large check” and submit the information to the Carroll County Times for publication.  If anyone has the ability to create the large donation checks that you often see when donations are made, please contact Lori Blake (lblake6675@yahoo.com).

Dennis Colson will be chairing our fall crab feast.  Dawn Geigan, Jimmy Thomas and Tina Thomas have agreed to assist Dennis on the committee.  The date of the crab feast is set for Saturday, October 15th at the American Legion #116 which is directly up the hill by The Full Moon Bar and Restaurant.  The hall holds a maximum of 150 people.  The goal is to start smaller and grow the event next year.  Crabs will be supplied by Harris Seafood.  We will have other menu items including, but not limited to:  crab soup, fried chicken, coleslaw, cake, etc.  The crab feast will begin at 5:00 p.m. and go until 9:00 p.m.  Tickets for Roost members will be $40 for members and $45 for non-Roost members.  We will invite other surrounding Roost members to attend. Chris will announce this at the next Baltimore Council meeting.  This also includes all you can drink beer, soda and water.  The Roost will supply the beer with the hope of getting some of it donated.  There will also be a 50/50 and Big 6 wheel as well as door prizes.  Some great items are already being solicited to help raise money.  A DJ has been secured.  We will need the assistance from Roost members to help serve crabs throughout the evening.  We will aim to have tickets and a flier ready for distribution at our next Roost meeting.  Chris will talk with Chad to see about getting tickets for the crab feast printed.

It was decided that we will have our July meeting at the Greene Turtle in Westminster and our August meeting at Maggies Restaurant in Westminster.  Both of these businesses sponsored a hole at our golf outing.  We will utilize these meetings to rotate locations with the hope of growing our membership.  Each location has a different crowd that we hope to tap into in order to join our Roost.  Chad will talk with the Greene Turtle to see about having signs posted in advance to advertise our upcoming meeting.  Chris or Lori will talk with Jim at Maggies to do the same.

We discussed the possibility of having shirts and other Roost items available for purchase on the website utilizing PayPal.  Our vendor requires a certain quantity to be ordered so we will discuss the possibility with him.  If this is an option, Tina will look into PayPal for this purpose.

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd at 6:30 p.m.at Rafaels.

With no other business, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully Submitted,

Lori Blake
