Meeting Minutes

The May meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday May 22, 2013, at the VFW.  The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:00pm by President Scott Albright.  George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”.   A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. Present were Officers:  President-Scott Albright, Vice President Steve Rutzebeck,

 Recording Secretary-Judi Carter, Corresponding Secretary – Tammy Brooks, Sergeant at Arms- George Colburn.  Board of Directors present were:  Bobbi Koppenhaver, Dawn Geigan, and Lori Blake.  Missing: Treasurer- Kim Harris, Board of Directors: Mike McGinnis and Steve Timchula

 

President’s Report:

The Council of Roosts’ main focus this month is the convention coming up the end of May.  All details are on our website.  Convention shirts were handed out.  The newest Roost is in Canton, #130 Lighthouse Tavern came to their first council meeting.   Council has $50,000 in the bank which will be distributed soon.   Suggestions for donations in our included:  Food Sunday, Voices for Children, Carroll Hospice and the Boys and Girls Club.  Stan the Fan is promoting Jonathan Ogden’s new book “Rise to Fame”.  Any Roost that orders 100 or more books will get a signed book by JO at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.  There is a Justin Tucker signing in June.  The Council is planning a 50th Gala in the fall, more information to come.  The bull roast will be February 15, 2013, same price of $43 and same band.  We purchased 2 plaques, one for the golf tournament and one for the crab feast.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

Scott gave the Treasurer’s report we have around $4500.

 

 Membership: 

 

5 new members joined in April; we currently have 107 active members.

Flower & Jazz Mart, May 11:   Thanks to all who helped out at the booth and as helpers.  A lot of people stopped by and the beads were a hit.  Brandon, one of our new members, did a great job.  Check out the pictures on our website.

Convention, May 30 – June: Theme “Fly Like A Raven”.  The theme for the float is “2 Tickets to Paradise”.  We have an awesome sign; the song will be played with Ed Reed’s version dubbed in.  Scott will be playing Ed.  We will be working on the float this Saturday at Legacy Construction at 3:00.  Come if you can.  Look for the three crosses on rte 27 and Legacy is right there.  We will be tossing footballs from the float.  Kids are welcome to march; they just need to wear anything purple.  For the convention we are donating a basket for bingo.  You will receive parade route information and activities in your convention bags.

Golf Tournament, June 14: At the Gettysburg Links, registration at 12 – shot gun start at 1.  There will be a committee meeting in the next week or so.   We need 6-8 volunteers for registration, silent auction, putting, and closest to the pin.  We also need items for the goody bags.  There will be a keg available during the registration period.

O’s Game, July 13 vs. Toronto:   We will be taking a school bus to the game.  Tickets are $20 if purchased by cash or check or $21 if purchased by credit card.  Orange shirts are available for $22 for most sizes for the O’s game.

Crab Feast, August 10:  At the VFW, 6:00pm-10:00pm.  We will need 2-3 people for a committee.  Last’s year’s was sold out.  This is also one of our biggest fundraisers.    We are raffling off a Super Bowl Football signed by Ray Lewis.  Tammy has the raffle tickets for the Ray Lewis football.  Price of the tickets is $10 each or 3 for $20.  You can also pay online.   Dennis Colson is the chair email address dlctx@comcast.net.   We are hoping to get between 5 -10 volunteers from Kohl’s.  Tickets are on sale.  Remind everyone to fill in their stubs.  This year a hostess will seat you.   We will also have crab knives this year.  We need volunteers for the 50/50, the jar tickets, and raffle.  We are hoping for people to donate 1 hour of their evening to help out.

Pig Roast 9/14 – This is a member’s only pig roast more info to come.

Roost 50 Golf Tournament 9/14 – this is the same day as our pig roast, we are planning to sponsor a hole.

Pottery Loft Fundraiser – A date is not set yet.  We would be able to hand out flyers to friends and family then 20% of all sales will go to us.  There are many items to choose from plates, bowls, mugs, coffee cups that you can paint how you would like.   To go along with this, at a different time we could do the Believe Mugs charity.  For $10 you paint a mug however you like the word with the word “Believe” on it.  The mugs go to local cancer patients. 

Team Purple – October 27:  9:00am at the old Memorial Stadium area.  As you may know Dawn participated in Team Purple last year, for the American Breast Cancer Foundation.  This is the Baltimore Ravens walk team.  To boost the numbers, Dawn and Katie Bollinger, who is the Advertising and Marketing Coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, will be going to the Council to get all the Roosts involved.   

George won the 50/50 the first time he has ever purchased a ticket and walked home with $60.

Our next meeting will be held on June 26, 2013, 6:00 p.m., at the Rafael’s on the Deck.
